KATHARINE HEPBURN

My next shoot is going to be based on Katharine Hepburn.
So I've been doing my research in photos, videos, interviews
and movies. She was a legendary woman.
Did you know that in the 40 years of her
magnificent acting career, she only made her way
to the Academy Awards once?
She was nominated and won more awards than anyone.
When she did go to the Academy Awards
she dressed in her own personal style,
not an evening gown.

This is my favorite line by her, this is from the movie
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
The movie is about a daughter bringing home a man to meet her parents.
The man just happens to have a different color of skin,
and all the neighborhood is appalled.
It was controversial, because the parents approved of their love,
which in the 50's was unheard of. I just love Katharine in this movie.
She's incredible!

THE PAST YEAR

The past year of my life, I have to say was my best one yet. All the experiences I took on, and devoured will never leave my precious box of memories that I will forever keep. When I look back on this past year, I feel so amazed, and I can't believe that this is my life! I truly thank God every day for every position that he has provided for me. I feel so blessed. I somehow attracted all these beautiful people, and experiences to myself. I have to admit out loud for the first time, that sometimes I think back to some people in my past that would never want to see me succeed. The people that used horrible words to describe their opinion or assumptions of me, just to soak up more hatred and jealousy in the world. Sometimes I take a moment to dig deep and realize that in some ways they are my motivation. I've said this once, and I'll say it again, "Thank you." You have made me stronger, and all the more powerful. You are my motivation and have made me realize all the power I own within myself. Everyone is only right in their own minds; once we all understand that and believe it, then we can all boost each other up, and live in harmony.

MY FILM NOIR SERIES

Last night
I had my first shoot
since I returned from Paris.
I did the styling & photographed it.
I made the bow tie from scratch.
I had a lot of fun with this project!
I am really happy with how the
photographs turned out!
The photos that I'm posting were
all shot in 35 mm film.

ULTRA PLATINUM, ULTRA HEALTHY

So I always have people asking me how my hair is SO blonde, yet SO healthy. Some people even ask me if my hair is really actually a wig! So I thought I should share some of my beauty secrets to keep my ultra platinum hair, ultra heathy!

First, let's talk products. Stay away from products with a high PH balance. Cheap products like Herbal Essences, or Neutrogena strip the color from your hair, and dry it out. No matter if the bottle says "Color Saver" or "Hydrate" miracles don't come in a $5 bottle. The products I swear by are Pureology, and Schwarzkopf Professional products. I use the color saver system, which is also very hydrating for my hair.

Second, I don't wash my hair every day. When I do wash my hair, I shampoo once, and always use conditioner. When I'm done with my shower I turn the water to cold for a few seconds and hold my head under the cold water, doing this leaves your hair very shiny. When I get out, I comb my hair starting at the bottom, and work my way up. Never start at the top! This tears your hair when you get to the knots.

Next, I always allow my hair to air dry as much as possible. A blow dryer is your worst enemy! I always try to use it as little as possible. I do my make up and get completely ready, and then I style my hair once it's mostly dry.
Finally, after I've blown my barely damp hair dry, I use a straightener on LOW! A straightener can be your worst and best friend all in one. It's a horrible love/hate relationship that I have. But I will never not use it for my beauty routine. Ladies, there's no need to torture your hair with a 400-500 degree flat iron. 300 is the max mine will ever go. I also suggest using big barrel curlers to help your hair lay nicely, plus to keep it away from that damn straightener!

THE EXHIBIT TOMORROW

Today I spent the whole day setting up my exhibit in Santa Monica. My eyes are crossed from paying so much attention to detail. It drives me crazy if a frame is crooked! Everything had to be perfectly straight, and organized. Everything had to flow together perfectly. It took us 9 hours to finish, and I can't wait for the opening night tomorrow! It's going to be at The ArtLab in Santa Monica at 6:30 PM. Hope to see you there!
