DAY TRIP TO KUTNA HORA

Yesterday I went on a day trip to the charming little town of Kutna Hora, about an hour train ride outside of Prague. The town isn't much to look at (like I hoped) once I stepped off the train. But just a few blocks from the train station is the Sedlec Ossuary (The Famous "Bone Church.") The Sedlec Ossuary is a small Roman Catholic Chapel. The Ossuary contains approximately 40,000-70,000 human skeletons which have been artistically arrange to form decorations, (even a chandelier) for the chapel. Four enormous mounds of bones occupy the corners of the chapel. The chandelier of bones contains at least one of every bone in the human body.
After I visited the Ossuary it was about a 45 minute walk into town from there. At times on the walk I doubted my talent as a human compass, but after the long walk in the hot sun I saw cobble stone; this is how I knew I was close. Once you hit the cobble stone the town presents itself to you, and you feel a big relief that you finally found it! Kutna Hora is a relatively small town, but in it's defense it's a great get away for a day. After searching around and looking at different menus, (I didn't want to just eat at the first place I saw) I found a cute little garden cafe called "Harmonia Cafe" here I enjoyed my lunch and read my book for a few chapters of time. After my lunch I explored the town and of course had to get ice cream! The town is very colorful, in pink, yellow, green and blue! I felt like I was walking through a story book, with my colorful ice cream to match. After exploring the lower town, I started to hike up the hill in search of Church of St. Barbara. Once I got to the Church, I started to hear thunder, and see lighting! Eventually it started to rain, which I actually really enjoyed; (except my camera lens didn't thoroughly enjoy it quite as much.) The view from the top is really exceptional; with lush green hills, vineyards, and a view of the town below! I enjoyed my short stay in Kutna Hora, and I recommend going after you feel like you need a short break from Prague.

Farewell Prague, Bonjour Paris!

Today is my conclusion of my travels through Prague. I have mixed feelings about Prague, due to it's all together beauty rolled in the grotesque nature of the people that visit this charming city. I am not referring to the Czech people, of course not! Most of the people of Prague have summer homes to escape to during this time when the city behaves like a European Vegas. It's the people that feel like they can behave however they feel because they are away from home that I am repulsed by. Once you start to ignore the men in "stag" parties shouting and pounding on the glass window of your cafe while you're enjoying a glass of wine with your company (in a beautiful 1920's Parisian Art Deco cafe) you start to enjoy your experience here in Prague. It's once you step outside of the Cafe into the dark night that you want to walk on the most lit up side of the street.

The best part about Prague? I ate like a Queen, for very little money too! The restaurants here really know how to present the food! Here are some of my recommendations for an exquisite dining experience in Prague:

The Kavarna Slavia Cafe`
Across the street from the National Theatre, perfectly situated on the river over looking the Charles Bridge leading the way to Prague Castle. A heavenly 1920's Parisian Art Deco cafe` with a sweet old piano man to greet you with a smile. If you are lucky enough to grab a table by the window, you will be rewarded with a splendid view of the river and the castle. The wine is superb, and during strawberry season be sure to try one of the many treats on their seasonal menu.

Bella Vista, Strahov Monastery
After a well worth it steaming hike up the hill towards the Monastery, we were able to eat our lunch (and cool down) looking over the entire city of Prague. It's a beautiful sight!

FISH
A quaint little restaurant in a courtyard on the side of the Vltava River. We shared the most amazing, juicy, herb seasoned Chicken Breast with fresh mozzarella cheese, and lemon. After the entree` be sure to split one of their desserts! The portions are perfect for 2-3 people and the dessert chef, I have to say is absolutely brilliant!

CAFE` LOUVRE
Photos posted down below, see for yourself and you'll understand why I recommend this incredible restaurant. This pretty Parisian restaurant was built in 1902 and was favored by Albert Einstein and Franz Kafka.

THE SECRET

If you're living life by the book, then you're not truly living "The Secret" to life.

-In reference to this non-sensible craze over the book "The Secret."
(A theory thought of while brushing my teeth this morning.)

PRAGUE, DAY 2

Today Callie and I saw a lot! We walked through Old Town, saw the Jewish quarter, and cemetery. We walked over the Charles Bridge, and had dinner at this really great restaurant called "Fish" on the bank of the river! We shared the most amazing dinner, and had an extremely delicious desert!! We were sitting outside on the patio, and it was pouring rain over us while we were sheltered from all the umbrellas! On the way back we found ourselves caught in the rain again, and jumped over puddles from cobble stone to cobble stone. We walked back with our umbrellas through the rain, and over the bridge again. There was a extraordinary collaboration of sounds! There were birds singing and the roaring sound of thunder, it was actually quite engaging! Later we went to this Cafe called Slavia Cafe`. It was directly across the street from the gorgeous National Theatre! Inside this cafe there was a nice old man playing the piano. We ordered wine, and strawberries. They had a whole menu of a variety of strawberry dishes. The place had a very Parisian Art Deco feel to it, and you could tell this was the place for the artists and actors to hang out.

PRAGUE DAY 1

Prague is really beautiful!! Today I was on my way to go to one of Prague's walking tours to get my bearings of the city, and I couldn't find my way there. So I heard these two girls speaking english, so I stopped to ask them how to get to Old Town Square. They were really friendly girls, so I started to walk and talk with them. I asked them where they're from, it turns out they're from Vancouver! We ended up hanging out for the whole day! We went up into this tower that has a stunning view of Prague. While we were up there it started to pour down rain and there was thunder and lightening all around us! I got some stunning shots of the Old Town Square right before it started to rain; you could see the threatening clouds rolling in. We went down to the open streets once it stopped raining, and we walked over to have lunch at this quaint little cafe. I had Czech's famous Pilsner beer, spinach soup and dumplings. Right next door there was this little shack that made the GREATEST doughy rolls that were rolled in sugar (kind of like a churro but better) IT WAS SO GOOD! After that we walked over towards Charles Bridge, and you can see the grand Castle from the bridge! We walked up the hill towards this bar that Katie heard has a beautiful view, it was called "Cowboys." We went to the rooftop, and it started to rain again! We sat on this patio that was sheltered from the rain. My friend Melissa (from Australia) and her friend met up with us there. From there we went out to dinner at this authentic Czech cuisine place. They served mainly meats & potatoes. I had a salad haha.

Callie comes to stay with me tomorrow through Sunday, so it will be nice to have a room mate in my big & quiet apartment! Maybe tomorrow Callie and I will hit up one of the free walking tours so we can get our bearings a little better. I heard from Katie & Kelsey that there is this world famous bar here! It has five stories, and on every floor they play a different kind of music (ex. top 40, disco, electronic, wedding party.) So I think tomorrow night we might go there, friday night should be fun!

TONIGHT, TONIGHT...

Tonight Angela and I went to this Pub on the side of the Thames river. We drank wine, and shared a cheese platter. We chatted about our lives, boyfriends, travel, and the difference between London and Paris. (She went to Paris before this.)

After our wine & cheese we were walking along the Thames River. As we were walking along there was this dance party/club on the sand underneath the Bridge. (Yes a night club/dance party underneath the bridge!) It was blast, we danced and the water came up and splashed our feet!

Last night I went to see a local band play in this tiny little pub. They were really really good! I posted a video of them down below.

Callie and I went to Notting Hill, and had dinner at this locals pub called The Prince Albert... I had fish and chips. We shared a table with the locals, and the bartender was all smiles.

I'm putting together a video of London, I don't think I'll be done with it, until I'm done with London.

Today I hung out at St. Pauls Cathedral. I sat on the grass, and video taped the dome as the clouds rolled by, and sketched a bit. Then I went to a local market, and bought a sandwich, cheese, and chocolate covered peanuts, and I ate lunch on the steps of St. Pauls, while the bells chimed for what seemed like 45 minutes. I also saw an organ recital play, it was so relaxing I fell a sleep for a minute.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to go to The Design Museum, it sounds like its perfect for me!

Instead of doing the typical tourist "London Eye", I found out about this place thats on Victoria Street on the 7th floor, with a brilliant view!

(P.S. I have a place to stay in Melbourne if I want)

LOCAL BAND FROM LONDON:

LAST NIGHT I WENT TO SEE A LOCAL BAND,

I THINK THEY ARE BRILLIANT!

I FUCKIN' LOVE LONDON

Oh what a WONDERFUL city!
It's always a treat to have acoustic musicians jamming in the tube stations.
And lovely young girls that announce their presence,
singing songs like "I wanna dance with somebody...
WITH SOMEBODY THAT LOVES ME!!"
While sporting their Chanel, Louie, and Gucci.
LONDON is like NEW YORK CITY, but with an accent.
i fucking love it.
